How to plan your cleaning week
- Block out your regular customers first. They're the backbone of your week, so give them fixed slots.
- Group jobs by area. Put customers who live near each other on the same day. Less driving means more paid hours and lower fuel costs.
- Leave travel time between jobs. 20 to 30 minutes is realistic for most local work. Back-to-back bookings across town make you late for everyone.
- Keep one gap for one-off jobs. Deep cleans and end of tenancy work pay well, but often come in at short notice.
- Protect a day off. Burnout is the biggest reason cleaners give up. Put your rest day in the planner like a booking.
Use the totals to check your week
At the end of each week, the Excel version shows how many hours you cleaned, what you took, your average pay per hour and anything still unpaid. Check that last figure before Monday and chase any unpaid invoices while they're fresh.
Copy your weekly money in, spending and miles into the free expense tracker and your tax return becomes much easier.
